Thanks for the kind words, Lex & Emjaye. I've been monitoring my web stats and see 29 downloads in one month, which is a little surprising considering I've done nothing to promote it.

I have some pretty big projects I need to finish over the next month or two, but in the new year I will rewrite it from scratch. My aims for the new version: Linux, Windows and Mac support (though I may simply resort to guaranteed Wine support). More RegEx-like features. Generally more powerful and adaptable actions. Metadata plugins (MP3 song information, Jpeg EXIF data, image and video dimensions etc). Cleaner interface. Handling of invalid characters. Undo. Saving the rename as a batch file or shell script for later use. Applying the actions system to lines in a text file.

If there's anything you'd like to see, feel free to leave a comment and I'll consider it.

A big thanks for this awesome program! I've been using it at my job to batch rename image files for years. I ended up here just now as I was trying to find a site to download The Rename Program from for a coworker of mine. Man was I happy when I found your link! Thanks for making such an easy-to-use program and hosting it. :)

Thank you Marc, this is one of the best file tools ever, I've been using it virtually since the beginning and it's saved me and dozens of developers I've worked with HUGE amounts of time and tedium. There's still nothing to match it. Sure there are plenty of renaming tools but the beauty and power of this is it's simplicity. A work of genius, thank you a million times over. And thanks for re-hosting it. I have plenty of copies at home but this morning I needed to give it to someone at work and after previous fruitless searches in recent years I was delighted to find your page and have the opportuniy to thank you after all this time. I've never had any issues with it and It works for me on Vista but if you're seriously considering working on it again you certainly have a vote from me and at least 50 other people I've worked with.

It is also easy to backup and transfer all your websites from one server to another server if you have cPanel installed

I got a template response, which included a new password, in plain text.

99% of organisations on the internet have worked out that sending plain text passwords via email isn't clever...

Well thanks Facebook. I guess I'll continue to mostly ignore you.

I've contacted Facebook about this apparent security breach, lets see what they have to say about it:

My friends list received emails requesting they join the "movies" group.

I did not send this.

I believe the group to be suspicious.

I do not have malware of any kind on my PC.

Inspection of the email headers shows it originates from your servers and has not been tampered.

If there has been an access to my account from any IP other than 82.46.31.19, I would like to know about it.

I would like the "movies" group investigated.
